594,493 people entered into matrimony in 2016. While the preparations for winter weddings begin, the cost of signing for ‘in sickness and health’ increased to ₺70,000.
The wedding industry, with all its sectors, is a ₺30 billion one in Turkey where more than 600,000 couples get married every year. Nowadays, it is farewell to summer weddings and the time is soon to com efor winter weddings. According to data taken from Turkish Statistical Institute, the number of couples who got married is 594,493 and the cost of marriage has increased to a minimum of ₺70,000. The World of Marriage Fair brings the soon-to-wed couples together with companies according to their needs in preparation of affordable weddings. On the eve of the fair visited by more than 50,000 couples annually, the cost of getting married rises further when house expenditures are taken into account. Selection of venue, videos shot using jimmy jib, photo shoots at selective places, organization companies and special requests in wedding dresses and suits all bring the budget to new highs and the total can be as much as ₺200,000.
HOUSEHOLD GOODS COST THE MOST
Household goods take up most of the budget. Seating groups cost between ₺3,000 and ₺16,000. TV set, DVD players and surround systems cost ₺7,000-8,000. Set of refrigerator, oven, washing machine and dishwasher start at ₺4,000. When you add carpets, curtains, kitchen appliances and home textiles the cost of setting up a home can easily exceed ₺40,000.
WEDDING PARTIES WITH DINNER START AT ₺15,000
Throwing a wedding party with dinner for 200 guests costs at a minimum of ₺15,000 and can go up to ₺50,000 according to preferences in venue and menu. Inviting the soon-to-wed couples to the World of Marriage Fair to be held at the Lütfi Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Center on 2-4 February 2018, Didem Cilga, CEO of Patika Fair, said, “It really is not necessary to go about for days in order to keep the wedding on budget. Our fair is a great opportunity for the couples to browse and assess various alternatives for 22 items needed for a wedding. We are expecting couples to wed in 2018 to our fair.”
